During the Autumn Meetings of the Polish Information Processing Society in Wisła, we presented the potential of the recent version of our Globalizer service. In May, free machine translation service from and into Polish was launched by Google. This made machine translation of websites extremely popular. and generated wide interest in machine translation in general. We compared the potential of Globalizer and GoogleTranslate on a number of occasions. We wanted to present the results of this comparison to a wider audience. The Autumn Meetings came as a perfect opportunity for our Globalizer versus GoogleTranslate presentation, in which "lay" IT specialists learned about the features of both services and some of the mysteries of machine translation. What we pointed out was that a major advantage of Globalizer is the human aspect about it - machine translation is just a preliminary stage. The core of our multilingual website service is human translation managed using Globalizer. Globalizer makes maintaining multilingual websites easy and cost-effective, which allows them to grow and be updated together with the original version.
