Our competence has been acknowledged by the reputed manufacturer and publisher of multimedia language courses Supermemo, our satisfied client for a few years now. Our programmers develop tools for gathering and processing linguistic material, and our lexicographers do the necessary manual processing.
Our projects for Supermemoinclude the following:
- Lexical data for a German vocabulary learning program (May 2008 – June 2009).
Our task was to accumulate vocabulary for the elementary and intermediate levels (10.000 entries); we are now working on the advanced level (10.000 entries). The lexical data are word lists, definitions, translations, idioms, etc., carefully selected on the basis of frequency in the Internet and examination requirements.
- List of the most important English expressions for 2000 fields of knowledge (October 2008 – November 2008).
This project involved the accumulation of vocabulary characteristic for individual thematic areas, not necessarily based on frequency in the Internet. The list of fields constituted a hierarchy of different level of detail. The word list was generated using a balanced Internet corpus of English developed by our programmers and linguists. Analogically, we can produce a list of keywords for any field and for any language.
- Frequency lists for English words and phrases including meanings (November 2008 – December 2009). Frequency lists provide us with an insight into the living language. We produced them using a specially generated corpus. The Supermemo dictionary, for which we did the project, is linked to the large lexical database of the English language WordNet , organizing words according to their meanings.
