One of our closest partners is pwn.pl, a major player on the Polish market of multimedia and education software and the publisher of the Translatica machine translation system.
One of our recent projects for pwn.pl is the inflectional dictionary of the Polish language under the working title Dylemat (Dillema). It is the most exhaustive list of Polish vocabulary, a reliable and up-to date reflection of contemporary Polish. The lexical data here incorporate items like those in traditional dictionaries, but also elements of the living language that have not been registered so far but are commonly used, e.g. colloquial expressions, loan words etc. The dictionary contains also technical lexical items and relatively rare words such as anarchoindywidualista (anarchoindividualist) or współodpowiedzialnościowy (adj. of joint responsibility).
Dylemat contains 223.000 base forms together with inflected forms. By contrast, other on-line dictionaries of Polish have between 100.000 and about 150.000 entries.
However, Dylemat is not only a word list, but also a lematization tool (an instrument for determining the appropriate base form of a word) and a C++ library.
The dictionary can also be used as a database with which to expand any dictionary of Polish: monolingual, correctness, orthographical, foreign word or colloquial. Dylemat is a perfect database for the verification of spelling for office and commercial software or word acceptability in word games. Furthermore, we can generate a translation of the base forms of headwords into English, German, Russian and French.
